Welcome to the Inaugural Small Sciences Symposium 2025, jointly organized by IIT Madras and Wiley’s prestigious journals Small, Small Methods, Small Structures, and Small Science. Join us on June 11–12, 2025, at IIT Madras, Chennai, for two exciting days of groundbreaking research, innovative ideas, and interdisciplinary discussions in nanoscience and nanotechnology.

This event marks a special celebration of the 20th anniversary of Small and expands the successful Small Science Symposium series to India, following its successful editions in China, South Korea, and Singapore.

India is fast emerging as a global hub for pioneering research at the nano- and microscale, spanning disciplines from physics and chemistry to biology, medicine, and materials science. The symposium aims to showcase impactful work, foster collaboration, and strengthen the vibrant partnership between Wiley and the Indian scientific community.

Small, Small Methods, Small Structures and Small Science are nanoscience & nanotechnology journals providing the very best forums for fundamental and interdisciplinary applied research at the nano- and microscale, covering chemistry, energy, physical & materials science, engineering, and biomedical and life sciences. Since its launch in 2005, Small has grown significantly over the past 20 years. It has published over 700 issues, featuring more than 18,000 original research articles and 1,800 reviews from 96 countries. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Small continues to impact numerous industries and drive advances in nanoscale science and technology.

Young Innovator Award

Recipient of Young Innovator Award 2024 during Small Science Symposium, Busan, South Korea.

The Small Young Innovator Award recognizes outstanding, interdisciplinary scientific work in the development and fundamental understanding of nanoscience and nanotechnology by young scientists or engineers. The award recipient must also show exceptional promise as a developing leader in the areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology. It is funded by Wiley and has been awarded at the Small Science Symposium since 2012.

Wiley is happy to recognize two Indian young scientists for the very first time in India, for their outstanding contribution in nanoscience and nanotechnology during the inaugural Small Science Symposium by IITM.
